Website and email hosting are provided by Uberspace (Jonas Pasche, Kaiserstr. 15, 55116 Mainz, Germany). CHARUS uses Uberspace as a processor under an agreement on commissioned processing (Auftragsverarbeitung) pursuant to Article 28 GDPR.

When the website or server-side contact service is used, Uberspace processes technical connection, request and transmitted content data as necessary to provide and secure the hosting and email service. CHARUS does not use this data for analytics, advertising or visitor profiling.

When you use the message or booking functions, CHARUS processes the information you enter. A message may contain the message itself and any contact details you choose to include. For a booking, your email address and the selected date and time are processed.

Messages are submitted directly through the website and delivered to CHARUS through the server-side contact service hosted on Uberspace; you do not need to use your own email application. Booking data is processed to arrange and confirm the selected appointment.

Processing is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where it is necessary to respond to your request or take pre-contractual measures requested by you. Other business enquiries are processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is the efficient handling of business communications.

Recipients may include Uberspace as the hosting and email processor and other processors used for the contact or booking service where necessary. The information is retained until the matter has been conclusively handled and is then deleted unless statutory retention obligations apply or continued storage is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

CHARUS does not use analytics, advertising trackers or marketing cookies and does not create visitor profiles.

When you explicitly select the light or dark appearance, your browser stores that preference locally under the key charus-theme. When you explicitly select English or German, it stores that preference locally under the key charus-language. These values contain only the selected preference, remain on your device and are not used for analytics or marketing.

If no explicit language choice has been stored, the website may read the browser’s preferred language to select an initial supported language. It does not persist that inferred preference.

No third-party analytics, advertising, externally hosted fonts, maps or embedded scheduling widgets are loaded.

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

You may exercise your rights by contacting legal@charus.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The supervisory authority responsible for CHARUS is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).

CHARUS does not use automated decision-making or profiling through this website.
